So what does HIFU actually do?

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) is an advanced technology that targets deeper structural layers of the skin to stimulate gradual lifting and tightening.

▪️ HIFU is a non-surgical treatment that delivers focused ultrasound energy into deeper skin layers (typically 1.5–4.5 mm), targeting connective tissue and muscle structures without affecting the surface. This includes the Superficial Muscular Aponeurotic System (SMAS) – the same layer tightened during surgical facelifts. This depth is critical because it stimulates collagen and elastin production – proteins that decline with age and contribute to skin laxity and wrinkles.

▪️ During treatment, controlled thermal energy (around 60–70°C) creates precise micro-injuries in targeted layers. This triggers the body’s natural repair response, promoting new collagen formation and gradually improving skin firmness and elasticity. The controlled heat also causes immediate contraction of the SMAS layer, resulting in a lifting effect on the skin above.

▪️ Because the energy bypasses the skin surface, there is minimal downtime and no visible damage, making it a safer alternative to invasive procedures. Some visible lifting effect may be seen immediately after the HIFU session, however this varies from person to person. Optimal results develop progressively over several months and can last 6–18 months.

▪️ HIFU is FDA-approved and generally safe. Nevertheless, HIFU treatment must be performed by experienced doctors who understand anatomy to ensure safety and effectiveness.

    Is HIFU painful?
    You may feel mild discomfort, which is generally manageable. We adjust throughout treatment based on your comfort. (We can also apply numbing cream if this is your preference, however, this is not a frequent request from our clients)
    In some cases, clients do experience visible lifting effect immediately after treatment. However everyone is different and most see improvement after several weeks due to new collagen production. Optimal results are reached approximately 2-3 months after treatment. Results can last up to a year or more, especially when combined with ongoing skincare and lifestyle care.
    Most side effects are mild and short-lived, such as slight redness, swelling, or tenderness. Serious complications are uncommon when the procedure is performed by experienced professionals.
