How many sessions do I need?
This depends on your face. Some clients may begin with one intensive 4D protocol session. Others may benefit from a planned course or maintenance, especially where puffiness, muscle tone or skin quality are ongoing concerns.
The optimal treatment course generally involve an ‘attack’ phase with 2-3 frequently spaced sessions (1 month for HIFU and 1-2 weeks for TriWave), then a ‘maintenance’ phase (12-18 months for HIFU and can be more frequently for TriWave).
Ultherapy vs HIFU vs Atlantis 4D Lift?
Ultherapy is best understood as a branded, medically standardised form of HIFU / MFU-V, or Microfocused Ultrasound with real-time Visualisation. Like other HIFU technologies, it uses focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin to create controlled microthermal zones, stimulating collagen remodelling and gradual tissue tightening over time. The core mechanism is therefore the same.
The real comparison is not simply “Ultherapy vs HIFU,” but Ultherapy versus generic HIFU devices.
Ultherapy has a stronger case for predictability and safety because it is a specific FDA-cleared platform with real-time ultrasound imaging, allowing practitioners to see the tissue layers being treated. Generic HIFU devices can also be effective, but results depend more on device quality, settings, treatment depth, and operator skill.
With a high-quality, FDA-cleared HIFU device in the hands of an experienced doctor, the practical difference from Ultherapy is minimal. Ultherapy is generally more standardised while generic HIFU is often more affordable but more variable.
